I was delighted to take six y9 gifted and talented students to the “Make Languages our Business” event held in Exeter University on Wednesday 20th of January. Elle Biggs, Libby Goult, Max Churchill, Danielle Baker, Will Kocur and Lucy Hallet, along many other talented linguists from other schools, enjoyed several activities which showed the diverse practical applications of languages.

In preparation for a series of political debates to be held in upcoming lunchtime sessions, Year 8 and 9 Gifted and Talented English students had the opportunity to prepare arguments and counter arguments for a boxing ring debate on whether mobile phones should be banned at KEVICC.

Year 7 students from KEVICC and year 5 students from Marlden and Dartington primary schools participated in a two day workshop created by Honda. The School of Dreams programme explored the power of dreams, imagination and creativity.
They participated in activities that incorporated Personal Learning & Thinking Skills (PLTS) as they worked cooperatively in mixed teams on a variety of tasks which incorporated a number of thinking strategies including information processing, enquiry/ reasoning, creative thinking and evaluation such as creating a dream catcher.
