Elliot Buckner, Year 13, ran a hard race in the South West Schools Cross Country Championships last weekend and finished a very respectable 3rd place.

A chilly Friday in February saw 27 6th form students, 4 staff and an ex member of staff (Paul Dunkerley, a very talented snowboarder) depart from the police car park on a trip to the snowy wonderland of Arosa in Switzerland for the half term break. 28 long hours later they arrived at the Mountain Backpackers hotel after travelling an interesting route via Gordano services, Dover to Calais by ferry and then to Arosa via Geneva (an unusual choice that added some 2 and a half hours to the journey) and finally a trip up the mountain on a funicular railway (one of the 10 best rail journeys in the world, although there was very little to see at night).

After winning the 2009 South Devon Basketball Championships, the Year 10 Basketball Team entered the English Schools Basketball Competition. In preparation the team manged to win all this seasons league matches but narrowly miss out on this years South Devon Title with a defeat at the hands of Churston GS.

Congratulations to Harriet Payne, Emily Moorghen, Helena White (Year 9) and Emily Hutchings (Year 7) who recently took part in a County Badminton tournament.
The girls had breezed through the first round in November winning all of their games to come first in their league. This took them through to the County round where the best Badminton players in Devon competed against each other at St James' School in Exeter in February (2010).

The UI5 Basketball team reached there second consecutive South Devon League final this season, remaining unbeaten throughout the league campaign. They managed to comfortably see off Coombeshead, South Dartmoor and Tower House reaching the Final. The final was to be played against the team they beat last season in the final seconds with the famous Joe Harris Free Throw. This year was to be no different, a close game was ahead of them.

Simon Kerswell-Jensen, a Year 10 Student, has shown outstanding performance in the Thames Valley Trial Head at Eton.
He won in the boys' Under 15 Sculls category and also triumphed with Rowe in the Double Sculls.
