Welcome to the Student Support Section

“This is an inclusive college which values each student and personalises support.”

Ofsted 2009

At KEVICC, we understand that every child is unique and place great emphasis on getting to know our students, their learning strengths and preferences and their hopes and aspirations.
  • every child has a personal tutor who guides and supports them throughout their learning journey
  • every child has ambitious targets to raiseexpectations expectations and provide stretch and challenge
  • student progress is at the centre of all we do. We monitor the progress of students’ learning carefully and intervene where necessary to keep students on track
  • every child has a planner to help them to organise their time and workload; they are central to communication with parents, and tracking progress and celebrating success.

“Tutors are excellent. They are always there to help us. They keep a close eye on my progress.”

Our main focus is to support and develop the students at our college and to provide individual contact for each student during their time in the college.

Each academic year has Head  of Year who provides support, advice and guidance to the cohort of students in their year.  They follow the students’ progression throughout their time at the college so providing continuity, consistency and a regular point of contact for staff and students.

The Heads of Year work autonomously within their year but collectively as a team within the Heads of Year framework and also within the Team Leaders, Middle Managers group within the college.

As well as providing support and guidance they also:

  • oversee any behavioural issues within the year
  • develop mentoring opportunities (particularly in Key Stage Four)
  • monitor attendance issues for individuals and the year group.

All of these various parts of the job build into maximising the opportunities for our students in their time at college and each Head of Year has contributed to this website and can be found in the following sections:
