Vacancy No. 0202 - Clerk to the Governing Body 

Clerk to the Governing Body

Grade E:   £11.02 per hour         

Hours: 350 per annum to be worked flexibly.

Required as soon as possible.

King Edward VI Community College (KEVICC) is seeking an exceptional candidate to provide professional clerking services to the Governing Board.

We are looking for a flexible, motivated and organised clerking professional to support us in our goal to become an outstanding college.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with our dedicated board of governors in providing a strategic direction for the college.

Duties of the role include preparing focused agendas, attending and accurately taking minutes of Governing Board meetings, providing advice and support to the Governing Board.  The Clerk will also run the induction programme for Governors and provide relevant training.  The advisory nature of this role means that it represents a Professional Development opportunity for the right candidate.

Effective ICT and inter-personal skills, confidence, adaptability, energy and discretion are essential for the role.  You will also need to be able to read and assimilate complex documents, and give sound advice based on appropriate legislation.  Although the majority of work will need to be undertaken during the school terms, some work may be required during school holidays to prepare for meetings at the start of term or follow up on urgent matters.  You will also need to be able to work from home and be flexible as meetings can be held during the day or evening.

The College has a wide and varied catchment area and is situated in the South Hams town of Totnes. We are an OFSTED Good, LEA maintained, Co-operative College supported by our Trust, The Dart Valley Learning Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Humanities Faculty.  The KEVICC Humanities Faculty comprises of Geography, History, Religious Studies, Sociology and Business Studies with related A Level courses.

Our aim is first and foremost to deliver high quality learning to inspire every one of our students.  As such, we are seeking to appoint an inspiring, innovative and enthusiastic teacher to join a strong team of highly committed teachers working towards increased excellence.

Applications from Business and ICT specialists are welcome, with the possibility of the post being split if suitable candidates are available.  The post also includes an opportunity to teach up to A Level.
