Page 35 Our Community Have you seen this sculpture? This sculpture was acquired for the school in the 1970s (there were plans at the time to make a sculpture garden in the school grounds). It was made by Bryan Kneale who later became Professor of Sculpture at the Royal Academy of Arts. This is what Professor Kneale told Wendy Newman (art teacher) about it in 2004: “I was fascinated to read your letter. I made the sculpture in 1971 as I remember. It seems to have changed a bit – It was stove enamelled a dark green colour originally but I rather like the weathered look it has now. I made the sculpture in Putney in a railway arch – now a foundry and it was a development of a sculpture called ‘Canal’ now in the collection of The Art’s Council.” Originally the sculpture was installed in New Court – the picture below is from the late 70s. Ruth Long Year 7 #JerusalemaChallenge Our Year 7 students (and staff) performed the Jerusalema Challenge, socially distanced, within their outdoor bubble area this term. It put a smile on all our faces, if you are yet to check it out, go to our College YouTube account .
