Another Year of Outstanding Outcomes at GCSE

GCSE Results

King Edward VI Community College students are celebrating having received another year of superb GCSE results.

We are so proud of all our students who have received their GCSE results today.  These outcomes are a testament to the outstanding level of commitment given by our students and staff who have all worked extremely hard to enable our students to reach their full potential,” said the Principal, Alan Salt.

This is the fourth year the college recorded positive progress for all students. Overall attainment across the college rose this year, with students achieving higher grades than in past years. Alongside our Ofsted report from May, these results show the dedication, commitment and sustained success the college is enjoying at present.

Some headlines from across subject areas include:

  • 69% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in English language
  • 72% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Maths
  • 100% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Chemistry and Biology
  • 97% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Physics
  • 78% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in French
  • 79% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Spanish
  • 95% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in RE
  • 75% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Geography
  • 93% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Art
  • 85% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Photography
  • 88% of students achieved grades 9 to 4 in Media Studies.

In May Ofsted commented, “Senior leaders are relentless in their pursuit of better outcomes for pupils”, these results at GCSE, and those at A Level, validate this judgement. Alan Salt commented “In November when we saw students turning up in their droves to revision sessions at lunch and after school, put on by our committed staff, we knew these results would be good. And they are. We are celebrating each and every success story here at KEVICC, from our students like Jamie who achieved over four 9s, four 8s and two 7s; to the amazing Emma who achieved four 5s and three 4s. For both of these students and many, many others; these results represent an amazing amount of effort, dedication and grit. Well done to you all”.
