Year 7 intake September 2018 induction programme
Year 7 intake September 2018 induction programme. Once again this year, we will be holding our three-day Induction Programme for the September 2018 Year 7 intake. During the three Induction Days, students will follow a programme of lessons, carry out CATS testing, experience break time and lunchtime, as well as having the opportunity to meet members of Staff and other students. Our aim is to give them a genuine experience of what KEVICC is like on a ‘normal’ day. We hope that our new students will feel part of the KEVICC learning community and this introduction will help to lessen any anxiety or nervousness they might feel.
Your child should attend the Induction Days on Tuesday 10, Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 July. For each Induction Day students will need to bring:
a packed lunch or money (about £3.00) to buy lunch
a pencil case with basic equipment such as pen, pencil, ruler
a coat, if rain is forecast.
Students should also come in their current uniform or if they wish, their new KEVICC uniform.
During the Induction Days, please note that we expect students to arrive between 9.00am and 9.10am in the Redworth site bus bay. They will be met by Staff and older students who will escort them to the Ariel Theatre. Parents/Carers are responsible for transport arrangements and should collect students at 3.00pm from the Elmhirst site. Please be reassured that students will be directed to the allocated pick up point accordingly.
During the Induction Programme (where biometric consent has been ticked on the admission form), your child will have their finger scanned ready for our biometric cashless catering system.
New parents' information evening (students need not attend):
We know that the relationship between Parents and Staff is vital in supporting students’ learning and well-being, and therefore, we hope you will attend the Open Evening for the Parents of Year 6 students on Thursday 12 July 2018 between 4.00pm and 6.00pm. Please park on the Elmhirst site and cross over the bridge to the main Ariel Centre reception (Redworth site) where you will be directed by staff and students.
