Careers: Information, Advice and Guidance

At KEVICC, we pride ourselves on the quality and breadth of opportunities we provide with the aim of inspiring students onto challenging and rewarding future pathways. Over the course of a KEVICC student’s time with us, we bring to life the possibilities open to them, ensuring that they are guided through key transition periods and challenged to explore a range of opportunities for their future.

Every student at KEVICC can expect to be carefully supported throughout significant transition points in their school life. They will receive up to date and detailed information about a range of progression routes into further education, higher education, and the full range of apprenticeship opportunities at different levels, including higher and degree level apprenticeships. Our careers provision encourages high aspirations and challenges stereotypes. We take every student to a choice of university in Year 10, offering all students to engage in university visits to Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions, whilst also providing detailed student finance information to demystify the potential financial barriers that university presents to many families.

We are lucky to have the invaluable support of a Business and Enterprise Adviser, Jacob Coburn, Senior Economic Development Officer for Skills and Education at Devon County Council. We also work in partnership with Next Steps South West who offers invaluable support in fulfilling our commitment to make higher education accessible to all students, regardless of socio-economic background. We have support form Careers Unlimited and Careers South West in the offer of independent, specialist careers advice to our pupils in Years 10 to 13. Each year, many of our Year 11 and Year 12 students engage with the programme offered by The National Citizenship Service. Each of these partnerships provides us with the expertise and capacity to provide high-quality careers education in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Our careers plan is updated termly to ensure a vibrant offer to our young people.
