Vice Principal Sarah McGinnis writes:
It is always such a great pleasure in teaching to work with a
students that has such great talent and potential, and so it was
with Liam when I first met him at the inaugural Press Team
meeting. I had seen Liam's work before in the Courier and was
impressed by his versatility of vocabulary; his plentiful stock
of quotations and the passion with which he wrote his regular
film reviews. Little did he know it, but I had him earmarked to
lead our newly-formed Press Team, who had secured a regular
slot in the Totnes Times. It was an important part of this venture
to have students writing in a professional way and for a public
audience and, knowing Liam’s skill, the role of Editor was the
obvious choice. And, over the last two years, he has never failed
to deliver a quirky and engaging editorial, introducing the
many news stories that fill these pages. What comes through
clearly is not only his originality but his genuine passion for
celebrating student achievement. In almost every aspect of
College life, Liam himself has been an ever present figure and
it is lovely to see his encouragement and acknowledgement of
younger students who have done the same.
I will genuinelymiss his contributions and am truly grateful for
the time and thought he has given to ensuring that the KEVICC
feature in the Totnes Times has remained. I am convinced
that I will turn on the television one day and there Liam will
be, with his usual wit and exuberance and I hope that, in the
future, he will write a piece for the Courier and Totnes Times to
tell us all the things he has achieved since leaving the College
– probably with a distinctive Australian flavour.
Thank you Liam!
