Dartmoor
O Dartmoor, O Dartmoor
Cold and dark moor
The snowflakes come quietly down
As well as piles of snow.
O Dartmoor, O Dartmoor
Hot and sunny moor
The sun rays are beating down
And dogs being walked becoming
more often.
O Dartmoor, O Dartmoor
The leaf infested moor
The multi-coloured leaves
Are falling off the trees.

My Life
Totnes, Paignton, Brixham and more,
constantly moving becomes a chore.
Memories past, always treasured,
time with family, greatly measured.
School, homework, never ending.
Fallouts, break-ups sometimes mending.
Weekends relaxing, chilling and cool.
Dog down the beach, throwing her ball.
In bed, tossing, turning, restless and hot.
Thinking of tomorrow’s lessons I’ve got.
Holly Humphreys age 12
No Fear
If you are afraid of sailing don’t be.
When things fall down I’ll pick them up.
When things go wrong I’ll make them
right.
When things are bad I’ll make them good.
When you are sad I’ll be your smile.
Do not worry I am always here for you.
Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.

The Politicians
If there is one thing I hate, that one thing is this,
It’s all those stupid politicians making all those stupid lies,
“No, we did not start another war in the Middle East!”,
And “That is not one of our policies!”,
We all know it’s crap, but we still go along,
What is almost worse is when they try to relate to us,
Making out that they understand what it’s like to live in poverty,
When in fact they went to Eton.
Then they do lots of embarrassing things like,
Playing Candy Crush in meetings,
Taking selfies at funerals,
Drinking beer in every publicity shot,
And we won’t even say what Boris said
about extreme Muslim terrorists
the other day!
We all know it’s crap but we all go along,
But why?
Maybe because it’s so much fun to watch.

My Brother
I have a brother, a younger brother.
A wily, skylei brother –
Ryley
He winds me up and makes me cross,
He takes my things and breaks my
things,
And then declares he’s boss
He drives me mad
And I’m stuck with him
But that is fine
Because he’s mine.
Seren Sykes
Beheaded
At dawn tomorrow my uncle will die
Although I am young, the newspapers
Have told me why,
The politicians say their hands are tied
So he must pay the ultimate price
The Islamic State don’t care who, he was
Chosen on the roll of a dice,
Captured for money they will take his life,
Without a thought for his children or wife,
Woeful wonders, I am full of fear,
Thinking of knives and snarls ready to leer,
The extremist group realise their evil,
Hoping it spread.
However, I am just upset and filled
with tearful dread.

Best Friend
Olivia is my friend
We met when we were in Year 4.
She lives in Love Lane Close,
Not that far from me.
Our families are good friends,
We visit them a lot.
Our friendship was very close,
So we decided to be best
friends forever.
Even though we don’t go to the
same school,
We still see one another.
Even if it is a month away,
We still have each other.

Being a Teenager
Being a teenager is hard
It can feel like you’re in a jail with bars
You get emotions you have never felt
You may have grown but in your heart
you will
Always be the same person
Other teenagers smoke
But you’re sensible to not boast and
smoke
Just.
Charlie Bratcher age 12
The metal was rusty like an old birch tree.
Inside the ancient rusted metal, there was cream oil
with its divine textures and romantic scent.
Its noise rattled and rattled then silence.
The silence of air blowing past your delicate ears
thinking thoughts that will never be thought again.
The rain splashing aqua droplets on the rusted ancient
engine healing its crooked edges.
The smoke of this beautiful beast gives life to its divine
pumps, making deluxe motions.
The lights burn the rusted antique pipes making them
shine the newest.
The crusted car bonnet seals its self-furbished engine.
And again the aqua droplets tumble out the sea blue
sky giving the car life.
The sound of the refurbished engine makes your
senses explode with excitement giving you thoughts
that trap happiness.
The motion of this spectacular new engine rips out the
ancient parts and tumbles in scratch less ones.

Love Poem
I long for you each night.
If I give you my heart will you
promise not to break it?
I want you to want me.
I need you to love me.
I dream so I can see in.
Spencer Flynn age 12
Panda!
Black and white, yin and yang
Survivor of an ancient clan.
Rings of soot around her eyes,
Somehow the species still survives.
Once she had brothers, sisters,
cousins,
Hundreds on Earth now only dozens.
Grazing quietly on bamboo,
Dreaming of a life outside the zoo.
Clutching a baby, precious and rare
Their habitat destroyed without a
care.
Cuddly, chubby, cute too
That’s why they’re loved by me and
you.
Alfie Annear age 11
Love
L is for LOVE that my heart
is filled with.
O is for OCEAN to show
how long and strong our
relationship will stay.
V is for VICTORY because
our love will never lose.
E is for EAST if things
don’t take us North.
