AR continues to go from strength to
strength here at KEVICC. Year 7s have
managed to read 2,382 books since
September so far! Well done to them all!
Altogether they have read 87,063,389
words, with 25 pupils reading over one
million words – amazing! We also have
some super-readers who have read over
threemillion words each. Brendan Genge
and Isabelle Jones are our top boy and
top girl so far. There will be a surprise for
them at the end of the year.
Harry Potter remains an enduring fa-
vourite series, though it is
The Hunger
Games
which continually tops the fa-
vourite book chart now. Boys are loving
Robert Muchamore’s
The Recruit
,
while
girls have been favouring
The Fault in
Our Stars
by John Green.
We are looking forward to expanding the
programme to our new year 7s in Sep-
tember and we continue to celebrate the
achievements of all our readers.
Well done to you all.

A Recipe for a School
First pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees
Now throw in some kids
Some kind, some sweet and a couple
of bullies to give it a good kick –
But don’t add too many or it will have
too much kick and taste bitter.
Now add some teachers.
They will have to be ripe or it will
taste sour
And if too ripe will taste too sweet.
Don’t put in too many because if you
do it will taste weird.
Now add in some Modern Foreign
Languages to give it a twist,
French, Spanish, Japanese and
German taste good in this dish
But the secret ingredient is creativity:
Art, Tech, Cooking, Drama and Music
taste really good.
Now sprinkle some sport: Football,
Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton
Put into the oven for two days.
Take out and serve with happiness
and kindness.
Otto Conroy
Our class
Take a Paul, place him in a pan.
Add some Lauren and mix in some
Alfie.
Take a pinch of Will for a kick of
spice.
Then unite Amber and Oscar as sweet
and sour.
Take a dash of Tom, bind it with
some harmony of Mrs Groves and
finish it off with a tea spoon of TA.
Note: this recipe is full of hopes and
dreams.
Warning: never put Will with sugar.
Paul Andrew
My class
Take a bit of Dan and a sprinkle of
TA. Let them cool for five minutes.
While they are cooling, get Amber
and Paul ready to mix.
Add some Lauren and Alfie and bind
them together.
Put in some Will for sweetness and
some Tom for spice.
Make sure you put in Mrs Groves be-
cause if you don’t we will explode!
Note: Make sure you treat everyone
equally and serve with love and
teamwork.
Warning: Do not eat Beenies before
you eat this.

add a slice of Oscar and stir.
Note: All the ingredients deserve a
