Welcome to children frommany local primary
schools who have been coming into KEVICC
throughout this term to take part in a whole
range of activities and workshops.
Here, Year 2 from Berry Pomeroy were
asked to design signs for 'New hazards of
modern living' in our Design and Technology
workshops.
They developed creative design concepts
inspired by the work and conventions of
Margaret Calvert and Jock Kinneir (designers
of our UK road sign system). This improved
their problem-solving skills, tenacity and
ability to use design conventions in their own
work. And they had great fun as well, as you
can see!
Read more about our successful transition
programme on page 27.
Earlier in the term we welcomed children and
staff from The Grove Primary School for a week
whilst rebuilding work on their site meant that
they couldn't start the school Year as planned in
September. Years 3 - 6 made full use of our site,
including the Forest School Allotment. In our
Theatre, the older year groups staged a series
of Roald Dahl-inspired sketches for The Grove's
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils.
Later, we were sent wonderful letters of thanks.
Our new Year 7s gave us a fantastic hour of
entertainment with their Performing Arts Showcase at
our Settling-In Evening when their parents and carers
came to see how they were finding life at KEVICC.
These Year 7s - who had only had five Performing Arts
lessons by then - sang and danced and acted, together
with Sophia Robinson showing us her amazing prowess
with hula-hoops!
Everyone in the
audience had a
wonderful time
watching
acts
brimming with
e n t h u s i a s m ,
talent, invention
and humour.
We are looking
forward to their
nextperformance!
Welcome !!
