Student Achievement
In January, PE teacher Caroline Mudge and
LSA Jane Hingston took a group of students
to the Devon Ability Games at the Life Centre
in Plymouth. The students had the chance
to try out many different sports and to
compete against other schools in the area.
This brought out their competitive sides and
they all gave everything their best shot.
Some students, Jade Patrick and Jai Stacey
in particular, tried their hands at a new
sport and found they excelled at it. Jai tried
rowing and found himself on BBC’s Spotlight
and Jade tried the climbing wall and found
himself right at the top of it!
All the students tried new sports and really
enjoyed themselves. A big well done to all
who took part: Niall Cashman, Jemima Uhr
Delia, Jade Patrick, Niamh Ross, James Hoff,
Oscar Jones, Jai Stacey and Issy Pearce.

Devon Ability Games
Sixth Form dancer, Tommy Hodgkins, is now in his second year with the
National Youth Dance Company (NYDC). They are premièring a new work
by the critically acclaimed Guest Artistic Director, Michael Keegan-Dolan.
Keegan-Dolan’s original approach, coupled with the forty-two dancers'
raw talent, illustrates the dynamic energy that young people bring to the
creation of a new work.
The company aims to create and perform innovative and influential
dance, bringing together some of the brightest dance talent from across
England, and has established a reputation for challenging, high quality
work that produces dancers that are open-minded, curious and brave.
The premiere is at Sadlers Wells on 7 April and the national tour will be
going to Falmouth University in June or July.
Joining NYDC can be a life-changing experience, presenting career
possibilities and raising aspirations, self-esteem and confidence, besides
introducing the very best of professional dance practice.
We are very proud of you, and all you've achieved, Tommy!
