Art
KEVICC was delighted to host an exhibition of
artworks including paintings, ceramics, bronzes,
metal work, printmaking, jewellery, castings,
photographyanddrawings producedbyArt teachers
from across Devon. The show ran in February and
was open to the public. Exhibitors included Art
educators from KEVICC, Devonport High School for
Boys, Coombeshead, Trinity, Stover, Okehampton,
Spires Coillege, Heles, Dawlish, Beaford Arts Centre,
Okehampton and Devon LEA.
TimWightman, Head of Art at KEVICC, explains that:
Students had the chance to see and critique the
work of their teachers. This proved to be a valuable
educational experience for all involved, if a wee bit
scary for some of us! We hope that members of the
local and wider community enjoyed what was a
very strong and thought-provoking show.
Late January saw KEVICC Art students present their works in
another successful exhibition at Birdwood House that was very
well received in the local community.
India Lazlo-Rothery in year 12 (whose imaginative tonal pencil
drawing of her Granny was one of the standout pieces) writes:
I was very inspired to see the variety and quality of work
everyone produced. This reflects the individuality of my peers!
It isaverygoodexperience forbuddingartists toshowtheirwork
to the public in a gallery used by other talented Practioners.
This gives a sense of what it is like to feel professional and part
of the wider community.
Comments from our Visitors' book included:
Completely amazing! The talent in this school and, obviously,
the teaching given to draw it out, are inspirational!
To each and every artist who has exhibited here – thank you for
the inspiration! Fill up your sketchbooks at every opportunity
