Table tennis success for our under 16 girls
The girls' under 16s table tennis team
have had an amazing year after dom-
inating the local and regional compe-
titions. In March, Holly and Jasmine
Johns, Elsa Perry and Heather Swiss
travelled to Leicester, with their coach
Miss O’Neill, to represent KEVICC, but
also Devon, in the English Schools
Table Tennis Championships. All of
the girls applied themselves in an
impeccable manner, playing some
fantastic table tennis and completing
games with great efficiency. Jasmine
Johns is one to look out for in the
future, as she won all of her matches
and helped the team to a fantastic
4th place finish.
The girls were also invited to play a
game against London 2012 competi-
tor Darius Knight and show him what
it takes to be the 4th best U16 girls'
table tennis team in the country!

Kennicott football
Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger
are two managers who have been
able to run a football team for what
seemed forever; an impressive feat
you might say. But do they have to
wash the kit, fill up the water bottles,
pump up the footballs and even drive
the team bus before a fixture?
Well that’s what Chris Chisholm has
done for the Kennicott football team
since 1994; a year when Diana Ross
missed a penalty; a year when shell
suit tracksuits were still fashionable
and a year when Harry Styles and
Justin Bieber were born.
As the 2013-14 season came to a
close with the annual charity Tellam
Shield match, it marked the end of
Chris Chisholm’s involvement in the
team. The PE department wanted to
celebrate his achievements and go
through some of his highlights.
• 1994 First game as manager
• 2000 Entered South Devon League
• League Winners: 2004 / 06 /09 /12
• Runners Up: 2002 / 07 / 11 / 14
• Devon County Cup Winners: 2004,
2006, 2008, 2013
• Runners Up: 1998, 2007, 2011
Not only did Chris run the Kennicott
team for 20 years but he also ran the
link with the Devon County side ~ 34
students have represented KEVICC
from 1996-2007. Remarkably, in
2006, four of the Kennicott teamwere
part of the side winning the South
West of England Championships,
completing an historical treble.
On top of all of the management and
refereeing, Chris has also been the
administrator for the South Devon
League, ensuring that schools within
the district are able to compete in
such a rigorous campaign.
Overall, you can’t argue with the
success of the team and, knowing
Chris, he would agree that the stu-
dents – of which 340 have played in
over 360 games – are the true driving
force of the team. We know that if
it wasn’t for your efforts over this
period of time, none of the success
would have been possible.
