Year 10 - Settling In and Work Experience Evening

Thursday 11 October 2018 at 5.00 pm – 7:00 pm

All Year 10 students with their parents and carers are invited to attend our “Year 10 - Settling In Evening and Work Experience Evening” event on Thursday 11 October, 5.00pm – 7:00pm. The event provides essential information about your child’s progression onto the next phase of Post 16 education or training, and to prepare students for the upcoming Year 10/11 examinations. The evening will begin at 5:00p.m.. with a carousel of three short workshops led by English, Maths and Science staff. with a talk in the theatre after.

The sessions will guide you through the structure, assessment of the course, past papers, the structure of the final examination, the type of questions that will be asked and the skills that are being assessed. In previous years, parents have found that these sessions provide useful and practical ways to support effective revision at home. Our independent careers advisor will be present to answer any questions and offer guidance on the different options available Post 16. There will be a chance to purchase revision guides for core subjects. These guides are provided free of charge to students in receipt of free school meals and can be collected at the event. We really hope to see all Year 10 parents with students at the event. We strongly recommend that students come along even if parents are unable to attend.
