COVID-19 Student Self Testing

For those who have consented to take part in the Lateral Flow testing programme, during the weeks of home testing (weeks commencing Sunday 21st March and Sunday 28th March) students should be tested on a Sunday night before they attend on a Monday and again on the Wednesday night. On these days, we will send you an email to remind you to complete the test as well as instructions on how to report the results (including links to the College’s reporting system and the NHS Test & Trace website). Please note it is important that results are recorded with both us at the College and the NHS Test & Trace system.

As students have already taken 3 tests in school supervised by staff they should be clear on what they need to do and the process they need to follow. However, the test packs come with clear instructions and this video shows the steps you/they will need to follow (the relevant section is from 2 minutes in to 3 minutes 30).

Self Test at Home Instruction Video

Please note that when we have been testing in College we have been taking nasal swabs only (as in the video) but the home testing packs will provide instructions on how to take a throat and a nasal swab. Ultimately, it is your decision to take with your young person on how you complete the testing but as a College we are happy for swabs to be taken from both nostrils only for the test if that is your/your young person’s preference.

You must report your test results to the links provided in the emails we have sent (both the College and NHS forms).
