Student Welfare

At Kennicott, we offer a varied and comprehensive range of Level 3 courses.

However, your study programme is about much more than just the courses you choose.

Your programme is personal to you, and your guided learning hours will be made up of examination courses, tutorials, the opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills for learning and life (sought after by employers and Higher Education providers) and a variety of other activities, including work experience.

Our resident careers advisor is on-hand to discuss career paths, impart guidance and put students in touch with people and organisations who can help them to realise their career aspirations. The Kennicott team will work with you to design a Study Programme which meets your individual needs and will provide you with the qualifications, skills and experience to enable you to progress to higher education, training or employment as well as developing your personal interests.

In addition to your chosen programme of study, you will follow a comprehensive tutorial programme during your time at Kennicott. The aim is to support our students’ preparation for life beyond sixth form and their development as well rounded people who are equipped to make the right decisions in life.

Which courses you study and how many subjects you take will depend on your GCSE results and your future plans. There are entry requirements for each course, but we consider each student individually and take into account personal circumstances at every stage. If there is a study programme for you, we will help you find it. Have a look at our pathways to see which best suits you.

At Kennicott, we place great emphasis on getting to know our students as people, as well as learners:

  • every student has ambitious targets to raise expectations, to stretch and to challenge
  • every student’s progress towards their targets is carefully monitored by their subject teachers, their personal tutor and their Head of Sixth Form
  • early and effective intervention programmes ensure that any problems are quickly identified and acted upon
  • every student receives personalised careers guidance, including careful advice at every stage of the UCAS application process, or preparation for entry to vocational courses in further education, or to employment, apprenticeships and business start ups

This is an important time for you. You are making life changing decisions about the next stages in your learning. We know that Kennicott will meet your needs. However, we are not content with that. We care about your future as well as your present.

Kennicott students go on to do incredible things. Every year, Kennicott students take their next steps at the very best universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. Our students thrive on an extraordinary range of higher education courses – from medicine to film making – at universities across Europe.

But our investment doesn’t stop there. We maintain close relationships with former Kennicott students. We count writers, animators, surgeons, designers, musicians, photographers, lawyers, music producers, actors and many others among our alumni. We are proud of them and they are proud of having been at Kennicott.
