Natural Helpers

Introducing the ‘Natural Helpers’ scheme in partnership with Action to Prevent Suicide

KEVICC has teamed up with Totnes organisation ‘Action to Prevent Suicide’ (www.actiontopreventsuicide.org) to launch a young persons’ positive wellbeing scheme called ‘Natural Helpers’. The project is based on a scheme that has been running successfully in New Mexico for a number of years (http://www.preventionnewmexico.com/home.html).

Chukumeka Maxwell (Chukes) of ATPS has worked closely with the founders of the scheme to develop and refine a project that will fit uniquely to our own college.  Financial support for the launch of this initiative has come from a donation made to ATPS from a family who have experienced a suicide bereavement. We are most grateful to this family, ATPS and the New Mexico team who have all contributed to this exciting development at KEVICC.
